Coping With Morning Sickness While Caring For Small Children
Coping with morning sickness can already be difficult to deal with, but if you also have other young children in the house, it can become especially difficult. You will need to find some creative ways to help keep them occupied and still be able to get the rest you need.During pregnancy you'll not only deal with morning sickness, but you'll probably also have mood swings and fatigue.Trying to make it through the day feeling this way can make caring for your children a challenge. You'll need to realize that these feelings are normal and that they will indeed pass.If you're feeling particularly tired and need to lay down, find a place that your children can be close to you.For instance, if you lay in your bed, make sure there is a spot next to you on the floor. If you want to lay in the living room, a recliner can keep you close.Or, if you have very young children, put a mattress on the floor of their room and shut the door so that they stay safely inside. Now, pick some busy tasks for them because you want to try to keep them occupied for longer than 5 minutes at a time. Some great ideas include..Puzzles - The more pieces the better, but make sure it's not too difficult for them to put together.Coloring Books - Buy several along with a small pack of crayons.Play-Doh - Although this can be a bit messy, it may be worth it for you to get some rest.Cars - Grab a bucket and let them loose on the floor.Books - Lay down and read to your kids if you are able to.If not, let them "read" to you.Movies - Rent some family movies and have them sit and watch them. That should give you enough time to relax for a little bit.Even though coping with morning sickness can be more difficult when you have small children, activities can help to keep them busy.Just remember to keep them near you and as safe as possible in the event that you fall asleep. If all else fails, see if you can find someone to take them for a little while so you can catch a little nap.
