4.0 out of 5 stars Phil & Teds vs. Baby Bjorn travel cribs - which is better?, June 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Phil & Teds Traveller Crib, Red (Baby Product)
I have two Baby Bjorn travel cribs for my baby twins and a Phil & Ted travel crib for my older child. Which one is better for air travel? Which one for car travel? There is a difference.

PHIL & TEDS

The Phil & Teds travel crib is a great portable crib for air travel as it folds up very small, is super lightweight, and fits into almost any suitcase or duffle - you could probably fit two cribs in a suitcase without any problems in terms of size or weight. However, it does take about 15 minutes to set up, and an equally long time to disassemble and fit into the small bag it comes in. So plan ahead, practice at home, have your child sleep in it a night or two so they get used to it if possible, and bring along the manual, just in case. Set it up as soon as you get to your destination - you don't want to do this later on with a tired crying child.

The self-inflating mattress on the P&T is long and narrow (19.7" wide x 46.9" long and 1" thick), similar to... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality construction for the price, September 6, 2008
I borrowed a Traveller from a friend for an overseas trip with my 10-month old and liked it so much that I bought my own. It's lightweight, easy to set up, packs small enough to fit into a suitcase, and definitely fills the need for a playpen/crib in a hotel room. However, we just returned from a week-long trip, and my almost-brand new Traveller exhibited some serious quality issues. The zipper broke on the stuff sack, the zipper came unstitched on the top panel, and one of the tightening pulls on a leg came off. My friend's Traveller has shown none of these problems, so maybe I just got a bum one. The Phil & Ted's warranty, though, seems much more restrictive than similar high-end producers so we'll see what they say.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product!, August 3, 2008
By
I had been researching travel cots for some time, hesitant to purchase one and acquire even more "baby stuff", especially since we already own a Pack & Play (which is great, but too bulky to travel with). A recent camping trip in rather close corners finally necessitated purchasing a travel cot, and the newly-redesigned Traveller seemed like a good bet. My daughter slept quite soundly in the bed from the first night we placed her in it, and we're so pleased with the product that we've recently taken it on a weekend trip and used it in place of a hotel crib. The greatest challenge is fitting all the pieces into the included duffle bag, but once that is accomplished, the cot easily fits into a standard suitcase. It's also very lightweight for the space that it offers our 17-month old. And although my daughter is very tall, it seems unlikely that she would be able to climb out of the Traveller Cot in the near future, due to the the curved frame. This product is great when you have the... Read more
